Symetra Tour player Taylor Totland, of Tinton Hills, NJ carded a final round 4-under par 68 for a championship total of 11-under par 133 to win the Georgia Women’s Open by two shots over amateur Jenny Bae of Lawrenceville. The event was played at beautiful Achasta Golf Club along the Chestatee River in Dahlonega.
Totland, a 2017 graduate of Furman University, started the final round with a two-shot lead over Bae who plays collegiality at the University of Georgia. Both players opened with two-under par 34’s to maintain Totland’s lead heading into the back nine. Bae rallied to get within a single shot of the lead after a birdie on the 16th hole. Both players parred the 17th hole, and on the final hole, Bae made a bogey while Totland made a par to give her the two-shot victory.
For her efforts, Totland won the first-place prize of $2,000 and the coveted W.A. (Bill) Roquemore trophy. Bill Roquemore was the founder of the Canongate family of golf courses and a long-time supporter of women’s golf in Georgia.
Low amateur honors went to Bae and she collected a gift certificate for $750.
Shelly White of Atlanta captured the low amateur honors in the Senior Division with a score of 139. Defending champion Harmie Nicole Constantino from The Philllipines was unable to play this year.
