Greensboro, GA (August 21, 2022) – The Georgia PGA Jr. League Section Championship was a huge success as six teams, consisting of a total of 44 players and their families, traveled to Reynolds Lake Oconee to compete on The National Course (Ridge/Bluff) in Greensboro, GA. The winner of the Championship for the 13u Division was the All-Star Team of TPC Sugarloaf. They managed to hold off the All-Star Team of Georgia Golf Performance in the four teams of two-person scramble format, where the best three out of four scores are counted for the team. The third place team was the All-Star Team of Sugar Creek and the All-Star Team of Osprey Cove came in fourth.
There were two 17u teams who qualified and competed in teams of three, two-person scramble format, where the top two scores were counted. The All-Star Team of North Atlanta defeated the All-Star Team of Peachtree City by three strokes to advance to the Regionals.
TPC Sugarloaf and North Atlanta will advance to the Regional stage in Ringgold, GA at WindStone Golf Club on September 16-18. Ultimately, 12, 13u Regional champions will vie for the title at the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Oct. 6-9, which will be broadcast live on select ESPN networks.
Through PGA Jr. League, kids ages 17 and under learn and play golf on co-ed teams, wear numbered jerseys and receive expert coaching from PGA Professionals. Following recreational play in the spring and summer, hundreds of 13u and 17u All-Star teams are formed in each league to compete in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season.
