PGA HOPE: A Lifeline For Veterans Through the Game of Golf
Hope is a word we are all distinctly familiar with, but sometimes fail to understand the magnitude behind what it can mean for others. For thousands of Veterans and Active Duty Military Service members, HOPE stands for more than just a simple nod to a better tomorrow. It’s a promise and a lifeline.
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) stands as a testament to this narrative because of how the power of golf is being used to change, and even save, Veterans’ lives. As the flagship military pillar program of the PGA REACH Georgia Foundation, PGA HOPE is led by 89 Georgia PGA Professionals across the state who are specially coached in military cultural competency and adaptive golf training.
“I was kind of withdrawn in the beginning, but the interaction with Pros and other Veterans has made a tremendous impact.”
“The game of golf is an incredible tool for healing.”
“Participating in the PGA HOPE program has had a positive impact on my mental health and well-being. The combination of physical activity, camaraderie, and the therapeutic aspects of golf has been beneficial. Engaging in the program has contributed to a sense of well-being, and I appreciate the support and opportunities for personal growth it has provided.”
“It gave me time to just be me. I didn’t worry about anything while I was there.”
