ATLANTA, GA – PGA REACH Georgia successfully hosted its inaugural PGA REACH Georgia HOPE Cup on Veteran’s Day, Monday, November 11th, at Bobby Jones Golf Course. This celebrated event highlighted the transformative PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program, honoring the achievements of Veteran graduates and fostering camaraderie between military members, Veterans, and PGA professionals. The event was fittingly held on Veterans Day, which added to the joy and celebration of the day.
Nine of our dedicated PGA HOPE PGA Professionals, playing as a team with four PGA HOPE Veterans, competed. Participants represented diverse locations across Georgia, including Acworth, Buckhead, Columbus, East Atlanta, and Evans. The event exemplified PGA HOPE’s mission to enhance the lives of Veterans through golf.
The day before competition, all PGA HOPE Georgia graduates were given the opportunity to socialize and meet fellow PGA HOPE Graduates and teaching professionals, as well as the PGA HOPE Georgia Council, on the Dan Yates Putting Course at Bobby Jones Golf Course.
On competition day, teams arrived for their tee times and received a commemorative tee gift package, including items from Sunfish, Imperial, and Camelbak.
Team Buckhead and Team President were tied after the 9-hole finish. This sent the two teams into a four-hole playoff. It was finally decided that the two teams would end in a tie. Team Buckhead was led by Jason Kuiper, PGA, and participants Gaylen Currie (Army), Shane Snyder (Army), Quinton Youmans (Marines), and Tony White (Army). Team President was led by Scott Geary and participants Robert Leahey (Navy), Troy Brin (Army), Matt Brin (Army), and Bryan Cole.
This day would not have been possible without the support of many organizations and individuals. The Georgia PGA wants to thank the Bobby Jones Golf Course and all of our amazing sponsors and partners for their support and willingness to serve Georgia’s PGA HOPE Graduates.
