Amateur, Bob Royak from Alpharetta shoots a blistering 10-under par to claim the Yamaha Georgia Senior Open title presented by Wilson Golf. The 41st playing of the tournament took place at Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta. After recording a 8-under par 64 in round one, the 2019 U.S. Senior Open Champion held a five shot lead over PGA Teaching Professional, Tim Weinhart of Heritage Golf Links.
At the start of round two, Weinhart birdied three of his first seven holes to Royak’s seven pars to cut the deficit down to only two. The run fell short for Weinhart as he double-bogeyed the par 3, 8th-hole and Royak capitalized with a birdie to go back to a five shot lead. With a final birdie on the 18th-hole and a fist pump, Royak won the Championship and both finished round two with a pair of 70’s. Weinhart received Low Professional honors and for his efforts earned $2,200.
Defending Champion, Amateur, Jack Larkin, Sr. did not play along with PGA Life Member, Paul Claxton from Richmond Hill Golf Club, who won back to back in 2021 & 2020.
