Matt Elliott, an assistant golf professional from Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega captured the second annual Milton Martin Honda Classic supported by Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO contested at Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville. Elliott fired a second-round score of 5-under par 67, matching his first-round score of 67 for a two-day total of 10-under par 134 and defeated nine-time Georgia PGA Player of the Year Tim Weinhart and Jacob Tilton of Ansley Golf Club by a single stroke. Weinhart fired the low round of the tournament with a final round of 8-under par 64, which included a 30 on his final nine holes.
For his efforts, Elliott earned the first-place check of $1,800 and an additional check of $200 for winning while playing the Srixon golf ball. Elliott is a proud staff member of Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO. Low Amateur honors were shared by Brandon Cho of Hamilton Mill Golf Club and Chris Thomas of West Pines GC who tied for 7th place, at 4-under par 140.
Defending champion, Paul Claxton of Claxton was unable to compete because he is playing the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY this week.
