KENNESAW, GA – 156 of Georgia’s top PGA Professionals and amateur golfers teed it up today at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw for the 104th playing of the Yamaha Atlanta Open presented by Audi Atlanta and Golf Sign & Design.

Day one of the two-day major saw some exciting play for some and posed challenges for others. Cooper Tendick, a 17-year-old native of Kennesaw, and member at Pinetree Country Club, enters day two in a 3-way tie for the lead. Tendick is accompanied at 3-under par 69 with amateurs Aidan Kramer, a rising sophomore on the Georgia Tech Golf team, and 2007 Atlanta Open Champion Bob Royak of St. Ives Country Club. Royak is coming off a major victory at the Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship at Country Club of Columbus over the weekend

Trailing closely behind at 2-under par are PGA Professionals Francisco Bide from Flat Creek Club, 2011 Atlanta Open champion Craig Stevens from Woodmont Golf & Country Club, as well as amateur Logan Toskey of Alpharetta.

Defending Champion James Mason heads into the final round tied for 27th after shooting 2-over par 74. Sonny Skinner, who competed in the PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island last week, finished the round at 1-over par tied for 16th. Round two will begin at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Admission is free.
