The 17th Annual Georgia PGA Special Awards & Weir Scholarship Banquet presented by The Shirley & Billy Weir Foundation and Club Car celebrated its 2023 Award Winners and Players of the Year at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 10th in downtown Atlanta for the second year in a row. Georgia PGA’s CEO, Scott Geary coined the event the “Greatest Night in Georgia Golf.”

Georgia PGA Professional of the Year Award recipient Scott Schroeder, PGA of Atlanta Country Club was amongst those in attendance. He became the Section’s 49th Professional of the Year Award winner. Teacher & Coach of the Year award recipient, Gale Peterson, PGA of Sea Island Golf Club, won the award for the 2nd time with the first coming in 1997. Stealing the show may have been up and coming teaching professional from Atlanta Athletic Club, Caitlin Cannon, PGA. Her speech was dynamite and her following of the AAC Ladies Group showed off her head on a stick as they waved them around at their table.

Also highlighted on that special night was PGA Professional Jacob Tilton, PGA of Ansley Golf Club as he claimed his Georgia PGA Player of the Year Award. Francisco Bide, PGA of Capital City Club had the lowest stroke average in the 2023 season and took home the coveted Gregg Wolff Award.
