The team of Drew Pittman of Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro and Paul Claxton from Claxton made 16 birdies against one bogey over 36 holes to capture the Traynor Golf Collection/Mizuno/E-Z-GO Pro-Pro Championship presented by Ernest Sports and Global Golf Sales which was contested at the Sea Island Golf Club’s famed Seaside and Plantation courses.
The duo fired an eleven-under par 61 on the Plantation course today to go along with a first round four-under par 66 on the Seaside course to finish the championship at fifteen-under par, 127. Pittman and Claxton had to go one playoff hole to defeat Michael Dausch and Kyle Owen from Dunwoody Country Club who also posted fifteen under par 127 after carding a second round. Owen recently claimed the 2017 Georgia PGA Player of the Year honor.
In the Senior Division, Danny Elkins of the Georgia Golf Center and Rodger Hogan of Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville carded a two-day total of eleven-under par 131 and won a playoff on the second hole over to capture the title over David McGowan and Keith Tanner of Monroe Golf and Country Club. Elkins and Hogan lost in a playoff in last year’s championship.
